Your Travel Experience with Be Peru DMC

Morning Tour includes pickup from Tulum Center or Hotel Zone depending on your hotel (6:00–6:40 a.m.).

Just minutes from Tulum and nestled within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sian Ka’an, an extraordinary and authentic adventure awaits you. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to explore an ancient canal spanning four unique ecosystems. As a proud member of a Mayan cooperative devoted to sustainable practices, our tours focus on creating local benefits and fostering ecological awareness for both our partners and the wider community. Marvel at breathtaking landscapes as you refresh yourself in the canal’s crystal-clear waters and let our boat cruise take you through the Boca Paila estuary. Your experience begins with a delightful breakfast at our restaurant, featuring dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We’ll pick you up from your hotel and bring you to our offices in Tulum before heading to Muyil, where your journey officially begins. At our welcoming Mayan palapa—the heart of our cooperative dedicated to preserving local tradition and heritage—you’ll be introduced to the experience. From there, we’ll escort you to the embarkation point, where you’ll board one of our boats (with a maximum of six guests per boat), accompanied by two captains and an expert nature guide, ensuring a personalized and intimate outing. Your tour follows a historic Mayan waterway through the Sian Ka’an Reserve, once used by Mayan canoers to connect the Caribbean Sea with Muyil. Along the route, you'll explore four significant lagoons—Muyil, Chunyaxché, Capelchén, and Boca Paila—each interconnected by channels of fresh, brackish, and salty water owing to their closeness to the sea. You’ll witness an incredible diversity of aquatic birdlife and, at the heart of the reserve, visit the ancient Mayan temple of Xlapak. This former astral observatory and customs post unveils fascinating stories recounted by our knowledgeable guide. Here, you can leap from the Xlapak dock into the canal and float peacefully for 30 to 45 minutes along a scenic 950-meter stretch, surrounded by orchids, bromeliads, and mangroves. Your journey continues to ‘Chan Muelle,’ where you’ll reboard the boat to discover Capelchén lagoon, with the chance to spot manatees and crocodiles in their native environment. The experience concludes at Boca Paila, where lagoon waters meet the Caribbean Sea—a spectacular scene showcasing the untouched splendor of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. After this unforgettable adventure, we’ll return to the Mayan palapa for a delicious, traditional meal at our restaurant, lovingly prepared with local, fresh ingredients—a perfect end to your journey. By choosing our tour, you’re not just experiencing paradise; you’re also supporting the sustainable growth of our Mayan community and helping to protect our natural environment. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
