Hop on your bike and set off on a fantastic bike path that traces the right bank of the Garonne. In Latresne, switch to a scenic rails-to-trails route. Take a moment to admire the impressive, albeit dilapidated, Romanesque abbey of La Sauve. Then head south along peaceful tarmac lanes until you reach Cadillac. Explore the town and don't miss the chance to marvel at the grand 18th-century chateau. Challenge: 47 km / 29 mi, 362 m descent

Journey from Cadillac to Meilhan-sur-Garonne
Today’s adventure continues as you navigate picturesque inland lanes to dodge the bustling roads leading to Saint Macair. The ride includes a few climbs but offers stunning rewards: enchanting estates, sprawling vineyards, and quaint French villages straight out of a painting. Take your time to explore the Bastide de St Macair before crossing the Garonne River to join ‘la Véloroute des Deux Mers’ – your scenic cycling route ‘between two seas’. Tonight, you’ll rest at a delightful chambre d'hôtes in Meilhan-sur-Garonne, or alternatively, 8km further inland in Marcellus. Challenge: 45 km / 28 mi, 748m descent

Journey from Meilhan-sur-Garonne to Agen
Today’s route takes you along the Canal de la Garonne, a flat and scenic ride from Meilhan-sur-Garonne to Agen. Enjoy the cool shade provided by ancient plane trees and consider taking small detours to explore charming locales. Pause for a coffee on the picturesque village square in Damazan, known for its historic fortress and arcades. Another potential stop is Tonneins, a 10 km detour that rewards you with a delightful square on the Garonne’s banks and an array of restaurants, cafés, and shops. Challenge: 70 km / 45 mi, 387 m descent

Journey from Agen to Moissac
Embark on a leisurely ride along the canal, flanked by plane trees and plum orchards. About ten kilometers into the route, the canal intersects with an aqueduct, offering a unique approach to Agen, known for its charming city center and esteemed Museum of Arts. Continue along the canal, nestled between a bustling road and the railway, and take a break in the picturesque town of Valence d'Agen, where you’ll find intriguing round washhouses. The final serene stretch leads you through magnificent scenery to the historic town of Moissac, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a significant stop on the ‘Chemin de Saint Jacques’ pilgrimage route from Geneva. Explore the town, visit the 11th-century Abbey of St. Pierre, and find a moment of tranquility in its stunning cloister. Challenge: 58 km / 36 mi, 258 descent

From Moissac to Toulouse
Prepare for a delightful journey as you depart from Moissac and head towards Toulouse. Along the way, you’ll encounter the stunning Pont-Canal du Cacor, a bridge that gracefully spans the River Tarn, leading you to Castelsarrasin’s charming port and the historic 13th-century Abbey of Belleperche. The route takes you on a tranquil rural track, shaded by ancient plane trees, offering a serene escape as you make your way into the bustling heart of Toulouse. Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of this lively ‘pink town’ as you pass notable landmarks such as the Montech water slope, the unique twin Ponts-Jumeaux, and the junction of three canals. As you approach Toulouse, you’ll pass through the well-kept brick houses of Grisoles, eventually reaching the historic Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds. If you prefer, you have the option to catch a train from here and cover the final 25 kilometers of the ‘Canal de la Garonne’ route by rail. Challenge: 70 km / 43 mi with a descent of 189 meters.
